January 30 in 30 Challenge

Leslie's 30 in 30 Challenge

My post to Leslie

First let me thank you for setting up such a wonderful challenge.  Actually I learned about your challenges from an internet friend Meredith Adler... at first my reaction was ... no I could never do that... but somehow this challenge got to me , maybe because of the date January my birth month and 14 is birth date .. I said to myself ---why not--- and I added to the list of rules --post what ever comes out----
What have I learned.... well mostly ,since this was a personal challenge, I learned that I CAN do it....

Learned to be more aware of my everyday activities and the "windows of time" that would allow me to paint. found out that even 30 minutes is a lot of time.

Arrange my desk that doubles as a computer desk and paint space.... so that in a few minutes I am ready to paint.... put up a picture I think  on day 27.of my setup.. roll out , roll in... my monitor shows my reference...

As for my painting I learned a lot about color mixing, what works in a small format with palette knife( I am one of your overseas fans that is anxiously awaiting your book)... strategies... more than I can mention....

Also the lesson that every painting doesn't have to be a masterpiece... none of mine were really great... but in each I learned something... and instead of tweaking moved on to the next day.... I have a pile that I may or may not fix...

Again thanks
Carol

Thanks to all that took the time to look and comment!!!

Hana,

Thank you so much taking the time to comment and give me your feedback... that is so important for an artist and anyone. Yes it is a totally different mindset when doing a painting a day... especially in oils as you well know...constructive criticism is always welcome..

Beautiful collage! I felt the same way when I did my 30 paintings in January of 2013. I was so amazed that I could do it, and I learned so much. Learned a lot this time too. I just wish I had more time to visit all the other blogs. That's what I'm doing now. :)
