Some pieces come easily and some take their time. This was one of those. Every time I had to cover up something or add another collage piece. But, in the end, I like it the best of the series!

This start, after cutting it up, wasn't talking to me. Nothing really came to mind and they remained sitting on my board for more than a week. As the date to publish was getting closer, and the Holidays at my doorstep decided it was now or never. If he wasn't talking I would talk to him. It's all in the process! As soon as I started coloring in the negative space in the top left this fellow appeared. I let him come out to see what he may want. Maybe he just want's to wish me a Good and Creative Year!

Day 17 September 30 x 30 2017

Here I started with my wax crayons marking the cross. Then worked with watercolor pencils and crayons plus water. Having the cross in wax allowed using water without any bleeding.

Day 13 and 14 Revisions

Day 13 and 14 Revisions

Thanks Jen for your advice on your blog Day 13.
Don't paint when you aren't really in the "zone"
Take deep breaths to get there, I think of my breathing when I swim!
That there is something to learn from failure.

The cuts from series 4 did not seem to make it. I felt it but couldn't really put my finger on the problem. Actually, I know the problem, sometimes I am so afraid of screwing up, I seem to freeze. So I took them all and decided that since I can't scrape, working with crayons, I will try to sort of put a veil over them and sort of start again. Taking my watercolor white crayon, dipped in water and rubbed it over the pieces. Then just started to color again as if it was new and not related to what was before.

Sometimes things don't turn out the way we think!

Found some small collage pattern pieces, they reminded me of Morocco

Well tearing them to small sizes,

They turned out to look like birds!
