September 30 x 30 # 27 Old Window

September 30 x 30 # 27 Old Window

The reference was from Pinterest tightly cropped and changed.  There was a cat on the ledge between the pots...but it really looked a bit corny so hid him behind another pot inside .

# 55 Pots on Traudi's Window Sill Workshop

# 55 Pots on Traudi's Window Sill

Brunch at Traudi's is always a special event.  So many surprise dishes and tastes.  Sitting in the kitchen nook and looking out at the pastoral views.  I took a lot of window shots for inspiration.  Loved how the curtains made an instant frame for the pots and mobile.

Workshop # 51 Lisbon Nook

Workshop # 51  Lisbon Nook

I have had this reference  photo for ages... I had downloaded it from a  WDE event last November from wetcanvas . These a Weekly Drawing Events that start on Friday and continue all week. The event was hosted by Wendy aka Sundiver.. This event had wonderful photos some I downloaded and hope to paint.. The reference library has thousands of wonderful photos posted by its members, me included.  In order to download images you have to be a member and have posted at least 3-4 posts on the various forums..

I loved the subtle colors of this reference. Although I changed some of them.  Did this in stages in my weekly workshop. I tend to work several simultaneously.

Painting Flowers with Leslie I

Painting Flowers with Leslie I

This month I decided to jump in and take an "online" course with Leslie Saeta... this month painting flowers. A beautiful bouquet of white flowers on the window sill. I always loved the simplicity of Leslie's paintings and hope to learn more about her pre-mixing and palette knife technique.

These post will be work in progress.... so first the sketch.... On gessoed cardboard... 13 3/4 x 10 1/2 " It's a bit cut off..... panel is slightly larger than my scanner head... but you can get the general idea...

Now to start color mixing!!!

Workshop #44 Fall Window

Fall has always been my favorite seasons, especially the fall in New England and other parts of the eastern coast. Here in Israel fall is very subtle... no stunning changes in colors... and very short. This painting was very frustrating... it went through several layers, scraping off...new layer... sanding etc.   I was almost ready to trash it...Well somehow it came through..30 x 30 oils on wrapped canvas.

Workshop Old Doors Windows and Walls

This September we again meet in the community center every Tuesday morning.  New beginnings after a very long and sad summer.  Decided it was about time to take out the 10 small canvases  30 x 30 cm I bought at a sale a few months ago.

I love old buildings, houses, walls etc.  Found some wonderful images on the Wetcanvas  Reference Image Library..   These were built up slowly using a quite limited palette of my chromatic black that I make from raw umber and ultramarine blue, ultramarine blue, white and yellow ochre.  Worked mainly with the palette knife.  After each layer did a bit of sandpapering. May do it again on these three.... to soften some of the areas.
