Since I am having trouble big time with my lightbox on blogger I am going to try something new. Which didn't work so although they are clickable they may open too large to handle? Since I don't know what browser you use I can't know what you will see.

More Paper Dolls

Remember Paper Dolls Glue and one Great Mess? Well here is the sequel, or sequels I was so glad to see Jen's latest blog post. She wrote about "Notes to myself on beginning a painting - Richard Diebenkorn." Gave me the push I needed to play around more. Especially the chaos bit! We'll see what Reuven has to say.

What I did was throw the digital image into Topaz Studio and play around. Did I tell you that I WON the whole set of pro-adjustments for Topaz Studio! Decided it needed jazzing up! I am happy looking at this because it makes me smile! Topaz Studio is FREE!

After Class March 27th

Paper Dolls Glue and one great Mess

Sometimes ideas run through our head. Some vanish before we can write the ideas down, but some are more persistent! I think Cookie has been nagging me because this paper doll thing doesn't go away.

As a child, I LOVED paper dolls. Most all my allowance money would be spent at the nearest 5 and 10 cent store.  My best friend Denise and I would spend hours playing, dressing etc. Until my father decided I had to grow up and trashed all my dolls.

Oh, and glue. When gluing these dolls made from newspaper, I guess I didn't quite screw the top on good and squeezing made a HUGE  puddle on the substrate. Spread out the glue and decided to dip them in and paste on another substrate. What a mess, some got deformed, lost a limb or head in the process. But in the end was better than the perfect way! Forgot to take a photo.

Well, this is the result. I have also cut out some more "dolls" for another, who knows maybe more!

I played around with some stencils and got some interesting effects.

Loving playing with my "dolls" again!

Now after all my computer problems with blogger the only thing not working is Location!

Doodle Doodle Dandy

I am really glad to get back to blogging. Holidays behind us. I hope that those that celebrated Easter, Passover, and any other holiday around the world had enjoyable family times. We had a long two weeks break from workshop and I am glad to get back. This week was my turn to make a presentation. This year our home projects were to prepare a presentation on a topic or concept and present it verbally as well as visually.I will post more on my next blog. I didn't do much in class, didn't even take out paints. Had a piece of heavy brown paper, and a few stencils and started just to doodle away with just an HB pencil. 

Started on the bottom left with free doodles and then used some stencils and masks of stuff I got from a craft store. I am still debating what to do with this, sort of kitschy right now. Probably some washes and then we'll see.

Extreme Composition Shape Arrangments I

Lesson 2

Part 2  a

Arrangements of simple shapes using the vocabulary learned in the first part of the lesson.
Restrictions were to use one shape and only gray,black and white.
Did these in acrylic using stamps,printing, masks, and collage on 5 x 7 " white bristle paper.

Workshop Patterns II

Still experimenting with oils and cold wax.... love the process... each layer  I discover different aspects sometimes a completely new painting emerges from the original concept.  Lots of surprises along the way.
The palette used is brighter than what I usually use. Again I used some cut stencils but opened them up.
I find these painting have been greatly influenced by my trip to Morocco.
