My art blog... what's on my easel.... what going on in my weekly workshops .... daily painting... sketches... digital stuff and photography...challenges ... the whole works....
This Hooded Crow has already started to molt. He was difficult to capture but he's kinda cute! Lots of pickings on the floor of the Horsha, dates and pecans.
This reference is also from Kay's [Kreative] WDE . An interesting bird in a dry bird bath.
Found her feathers interesting.. see the shadow under her body?
When returning to our table we noticed a group of sparrows had pushed our piece of pitta bread and were having a feast under the table. By the time I got my camera out they were pushing it like a hockey pug around the floor.... synthetic grass..!!!! I am learning what NOT to do... Spread some liquin on the paper and tried to draw on that... not a good idea... will try liquin after the drawing ...
We are slowly reaching the mid-mark two weeks. This is another "in the spirit of" posts..... The only thing I like are the colors.... hand is some what off... actually a lot off... and the subject is a little banal ,well worn..
Not to say too worked over...And it looks too green!!!!
A few weeks ago we had a special sketch marathon lesson at our workshop... One of the images I did was of a small bird which was a 5 minute charcoal sketch on newsprint. Thought it would make a nice painting so at our last class of the season I did this small painting,
Oils on cardboard with a painted background. 25 x 30 cm. Wanted to keep the spontaneity of the brush strokes and the general gesture of the bird.
Another 20x20 cm wet on wet oil . Reference from the WDE event on wetcanvas, this weeks host Rozzi.
A small bird... he is really angry at me!!! I really don't blame him, didn't do him justice!!!
Took about 2 hours.....maybe a bit longer... Used split primary palette
